SCERT-KERALA

The State Council of Educational Research and Training

SCERT (Kerala) functions as an R&D institute at the state level by providing guidance, support and assistance to the State Education Department in its endeavor to improve the quality of elementary and secondary education and teacher education. To achieve this goal, the SCERT conducts research Studies, develops information systems, curricular policies, and instructional materials and co-ordinates in-service education for teachers at all levels.

SCERT is concerned with the academic aspects of school education including formulation of curriculum, preparation of textbooks, teachers’ handbooks and teacher training. It advises the Government on policy matters relating to school education

The academic activities and programmes of SCERT are carried out by the various departments / units. SCERT plans and co-ordinates all academic projects and programmes in the state.

HIGHTECH CLASSROOMS

School education to be of international standards:

High-tech classes to be set up from classes 8 to 12.

Mission ‘Pothu Vidyabhasa Samrakshana Yajnam’ started. Classes 1 to 12 are being made hi-tech. In the first stage, project started in 2017-18 to make 45,000 high school and higher secondary classes hi-tech. Public (government, aided) schools will be made centres of excellence. In the first stage, a government school in each constituency will be provided with up to Rs. 5 crores. Government schools not included here but with student strength of more than 1000 will be provided up to Rs. 3 crores. Government will provide money equivalent to that spent by aided schools (subject to a maximum of Rs. 1 crore). L.P and U.P. schools are being modernized using the Rs 216 crores set aside for infrastructure development in the Budget estimate for Higher Education.
